Fundación Vivanco, Awarded by Great Wine Capitals Global Network

The award recognizes those organizations whose contributions to wine tourism have been extraordinary

The Fundación Vivanco and its wine culture museum recently received a very special distinction: a Special Achievement Award, presented by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network’s at its 2024 Best of Wine Tourism Awards. The presentation was on October 27th in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The distinctions are considered “benchmarks of excellence,” aiming to “celebrate innovation and excellence” in winemaking regions around the world. The award received by the Fundación Vivanco in Rioja is specifically for those organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to both local and global wine tourism.

The accolade underscores the diverse services offered by Vivanco and its contribution to winemaking culture and heritage. The Vivanco winery is located in Rioja Alta, where there’s no shortage of wine routes.

This award has only been presented twice before, to La Cité du Vin, Burdeos, in 2019, and to The WoW, World of Wine, Oporto, in 2021. The Foundation is the only private institution that has received this international accolade.

According to Santiago Vivanco, a co-owner and president of the Fundación Vivanco and Vivanco Enoturismo y Experiencias, “We are extremely proud and happy to receive this award that highlights all the work done by the Vivanco family for over 20 years to share the wine culture of our region and our country. It is an exclusive recognition that puts us on the map alongside most outstanding wine tourism destinations worldwide... This distinction is very important for us because it not only gives us a boost to continue our research and efforts to raise awareness, but also because it gives our wine and wine tourism culture the place we believe it deserves in the world."
