ICEX/Wines from Spain, in collaboration with regulatory councils and emblematic Spanihsh wineries, is offering a varied program of first-rate tastings to professional visitors at the ProWein fair, which will take place March 18 – 21, 2018.
Sunday, March 18, will kick things off with a tasting and wine pairing of DO Cava wines, demonstrating the enormous potential of Cava when combined with international culinary creations. Visitors will be able to enjoy a tasting of rosado Cavas on Sunday morning, and Single-Estate Cavas on Monday at 2 pm, each accompanied by a selection of tapas created by Michelin-starred chef Bastian Falkenroth.
With the goal of demonstrating the immense variety and quality of our wines, professional visitors will have the opportunity to discover the singular wines that originate on the steep slopes of the Sil River in DO Ribeira Sacra on Sunday, as well as a selection of premium wines from Extremadura. Additionally, Vicky Gordon González and her Master Blender, Silvia Flores, will present a selection of very special Fino wines from González Byass under the slogan, “The new face of Jerez.”
Treasures of Rueda and Toro
On Monday morning, DO Rueda will demonstrate different production styles for its white wines, which go beyond merely young wines.
One of the great treasures of Spanish viticulture is the hundred-year-old vines found in DO Toro, the protagonist of the Monday-afternoon tasting.
The program of tastings wraps up on Tuesday morning with a historical, vertical tasting of nothing less than the wines of the pioneer in the elaboration of single-variety Petit Verdot wines in Spain and the world, Carlos Falcó. His daughter, Xandra Falcó, along with the winery’s enologist Julio Mourelle, will present a selection of eight vintages of Petit Verdot – from 1997 to 2011 – from Marqués de Griñón Family Estates in DO Dominio de Valdepusa.
