In 2015, Joël Robuchon, one of the most famous chefs in the world and the holder of thirty-two Michelin stars (the most of anyone in the world), attended international culinary conference Madrid Fusión, where he was interviewed by Spanish Royal Gastronomy Academy president Rafael Ansón. During the interview, Robuchon stated unequivocally that he believes Spanish tapas restaurants are the model for the future on a worldwide level: "Go anywhere in the world and you can find tapas, and they will be a success".
This love for Spanish cuisine (he traveled here often) and the Spanish culinary culture was just one of the things we admired about this iconic French chef. Others were his ability to inspire young chefs and food lovers, and to bring people from all over the world together in celebration of gastronomy.
He will be greatly missed and our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this sad time.
