“elBulli 1846” Coming in Summer 2019

Food lovers around the world should save the date for the much-anticipated reopening of the property that was housed the world-famous restaurant elBulli, located in the town of Roses, Girona.

After much delay due to licensing issues and other administrative hurdles, world-famous chef Ferran Adrià has announced that everything is now in order for work to proceed on this creative project: elBulli 1846, which is slated to open in the summer of 2019.

The project centers on transforming what was once considered the best restaurant in the world into a research lab and exhibition space dedicated to hosting cultural and artistic performances, masters programs, art exhibitions and more; creating in essence a creative hub whose outcomes and activities will be shared with the world online.

In a recent interview with EFEAGRO (“El ‘Bulli1846’ de Ferran Adrià arrancará en verano de 2019,” May 16, 2018), the chef confirmed that the project will get underway in either June or September of 2019, with some twenty people working on site and dedicated full-time to their projects. In statements to the online publication, Adrià comments, “elBulli 1846 will be a research center where about twenty people will work to reflect on, research and experiment with efficiency and innovation. It will be very focused on small and medium-sized companies, because fifty percent of those in Spain don’t last more than five years, and we hope to contribute our grain of sand to change this.”
