First EVOO with Mediterranean Diet Logo is Sold in the US

PDO Montes de Toledo reached an agreement with the Mediterranean Diet Foundation which will benefit more than 10,000 farmers

 

A very special bottle of extra virgin olive oil with PDO Montes de Toledo certification, Zoe Diva, has landed in the US, and it’s the first one of its kind from Spain with the official Mediterranean Diet logo.

This logo “highlights the quality and properties of our extra virgin olive oil and the benefits of including it in your daily diet,” according to the head of the PDO, Enrique García-Tenorio.

The oil, which is produced by Aceites Toledo, S.A., is geared specifically towards the US market, as it’s one of the main consumers of this oil. Moreover, the US is an extremely important market as it’s the main export destination for Spanish olive oil, after the European Union.

Going forward, the other brands included in PDO Montes de Toledo will gradually incorporate the Mediterranean Diet logo on their labels.

This logo is the result of an agreement between the PDO and the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, which will benefit over 10,000 farmers and 34 cooperatives, producers and packaging companies.

This is the very first Spanish regulatory council to obtain accreditation from the National Accreditation Body (ENAC) for a product with PDO status.

 

Going forward, the other brands included in PDO Montes de Toledo will gradually incorporate the Mediterranean Diet logo on their labels.
