Spanish wines are heading to Canada—specifically Montreal, Quebec—for the 2017 Spanish Wine Exhibition.
This event, which will be held on October 17th, is being organized by ICEX and the Spanish Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office in Toronto. The objective is to enable Spanish producers without a presence there to gain a foothold in the market by providing a platform for networking with local businesses, and to underline the quality of Spanish wines among trade professionals and everyday consumers. Wineries that already have a presence in the market are also invited to participate. The event is aimed at everyone from sommeliers and members of HoReCa to the trade media and the general public.
This event will be organized into two parts, the first catering to trade professionals, and the second to consumers. Each winery will have its own table where it will be able to showcase its wines, interact with attendees and promote its products.
Quebec is a very important market for Spanish wines and is the province with a share of more than 50% of the import market. Growth has been an impressive 32% in the last five years, and was 5.2% alone in 2016.
