Spanish Wines Triumph at the International Wine Challenge in London

Spanish wines took home countless distinctions and trophies, from reds and whites to cavas and sherries


 

The International Wine Challenge results are in! And Spanish wines performed spectacularly. This is a prestigious, rigorous event which is considered the “world’s finest and most meticulously judged wine competition,” according to beveragetradenetwork.com.

The shortlist for 2018 Winemaker of the Year includes Sergio Martínez from Emilio Lustau and Antonio Flores from González Byass. Meanwhile, the National Trophy 2018 Results include five names from Spain: Cava Perelada Stars Brut Nature Reserva (Cava Trophy), Tío Pepe Tres Palmas Fino (Sherry Trophy), Altos de Corral Single Estate Reserva (Spanish Red Trophy), Domènech Vidal Cultivare Xarel.lo (Spanish White Trophy), and Perucchi Dorado Gran Reserva Vermouth (Vermouth Trophy).

In the shortlist for the Champion of Champions 2018 Shortlist, Tio Pepe Cuatro Palmas Amontillado made the grade.

In the 2018 International Varietal Trophy category, Barbuntin took home the International Albariño Trophy. In the Varietal Trophy segment, Harveys Pedro Ximénez VORS 30 YO got the Pedro Ximénez Trophy and La Font Voltada got the Trepat Trophy.

There were many Regional Trophy winners from Spain, among them Booths Manzanilla Sherry (Manzanilla Trophy), Don Jacobo Gran Reserva (Gran Reserva Rioja Trophy)
