There’s no shortage of creative ways to serve Spanish food in the UK. Donostia Social Club, for example, previously operated as a street food van, but now has a permanent location at Pop Brixton, in London. In fact, it was the winner of the Diners’ Choice Award in 2016. Serving a delicious selection of Basque-inspired dishes along with top-flight Spanish charcuterie, the restaurant has developed quite the following of loyal customers.
On the back on that success, the owners are launching a new project: The Tapas Room. Set to open in early May, this new locale will be an eatery, deli and shop, and will be located at Tooting’s Broadway Market. The food will be similar to the Social Club’s offering (Basque tapas, charcuterie and cheese), along with a great selection of cava, vermouth, sherry and wine. The food will be available for take out or home delivery. Says the founder, “The Tapas Room allows me to further build upon the passion for Basque cooking I’ve showcased through Donostia Social Club,” according to an article in bighospitality.co.uk.
