Representing twenty-four wineries of DO Vinos de Madrid, twenty-three of the wines that participated in the competition received recognition in one of three categories: Gran Viña de Madrid, Viña de Madrid de Oro and Viña de Madrid de Plata.
The top category, Gran Viña de Madrid, was bestowed on the following wines: Figueroa Blanco 2016 from Bodegas Jesús Figueroa in Colmenar de Oreja, Aceña Rosado Semidulce 2016 from Bodegas Virgen de la Poveda in Villa del Prado, Unnis Tinto 2016 from Vinos y Aceites Laguna in Villaconejos, Viña Rendero Tinto from Vinícola de Arganda del Rey and La Sabina Tinto 2011 from Las Moradas de San Martín, also in Arganda del Rey. Additionally, eight other wines received gold medals and ten more received silvers.
This was the thirtieth edition of these awards, which recognize quality in this Spanish wine producing region, which is experiencing significant growth both in terms of production and export.
