Something big and sherry-flavored is happening in September in London: The Great Sherry Tasting will be held on the 11th at the OXO2. This is the largest tasting of its kind outside of Jerez, Spain, and promises to be not only informational, but also quite delicious. More than 40 producers are expected to attend and over 200 wines will be available for tasting, thanks to the attendance of some of the UK’s leading importers. The event caters to both experts and novices.
There will be three special activities organized during the course of the day. A masterclass entitled “Becoming a sherry sommelier” will allow participants to taste six wines and learn about pairing sherry with food and about sharing sherry information with others. A second masterclass, given my none other than Beltrán Domecq, will be offered entitled “The nation’s favorite sherries: en rama & crema,” at which attendees will taste five examples of each variety. There will also be a sherry and cheese pairing featuring six of the former and three of the latter.
