Expovinos was recently held in Bogotá from August 2nd to the 5th, and it is one of the biggest trade events of its kind in Colombia. Although the country is not a producer, it’s a clear consumer, and with that in mind, the 12th edition of this wine fair sought to highlight exciting products from around the world with an exposition and plenty of activities.
Spain had a notable presence at the fair. Not only were Spanish wines included in several blind tastings, there were many conferences featuring products from Spain. Cesar Saldaña, Managing Director of the DO Jerez de la Frontera, provided an overview of sherry wines, which included a seminar and a tasting; Beltran Domecq, the President of DO Jerez de la Frontera, also led a presentation and tasting; Antonio Florez, the Master Blender for Gonzalez Byass, gave a conference on sherry; Maria Fernanda Martinez Caba, from La Estacada winery in Cuenca, gave a presentation entitled “Wine, an experience within everyone’s reach; Spain, an opportunity to experience it;” Cesar Martinez, Head of Exports for Torre Longares, spoke about wines from Aragon; Daniel Santacreu Rull, Export Manager for Bodega Clos Montblanc, discussed his winery; Elena Sánchez Tendero, Head of Exports for Bodega Altanza, talked about Reserva wines; and Luisa de Paz, Export Manager at Bodegas Protos, shared the story behind Ribera del Duero, among many other participants.
