SIAM 2024
ICEX Spain Trade and Investment (ICEX) and the Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) are setting up, within the framework of the #SpainFoodNation campaign, a Spanish Pavilion at SIAM (Salón International de l’Agriculture au Maroc), the main trade fair in Morocco within the agricultural and agro-industrial technology sector and one of the most important in the North African area. At 2024 edition, Spain enjoyed the condition of “honor country”.
Agriculture is the main sector and engine of the Moroccan economy. It represents 11% of its GDP, 40% of total employment and 19% of exports (third export sector). It has grown over the last decade at average rates above 6% (well above the growth of the non-agricultural sector).
Growing agricultural exports translates into the need for equipment to improve production performance and optimization of resources.: thus, in 2021, equipment imports grow by 12.6%.
This opens good chances for Spanish exporters of agricultural technology, who hold first place in terms of market share. At the same time, Morocco is one of the main destination of Spanish exports in this sector.
