Spanish Food & Wine Masterclass North of Spain and Mediterranean with Sarah Jane Evans MW, wine expert Ferrán Centelles & cook instructor Blanca Valencia

Food & Wine from Spain will hold two Masterclass, the first will feature wines from "Green Spain" Galicia, Bierzo and Txakolí . The second one will look at wines from Spain's Mediterranean regions, each tasting will feature 8 wines.

The Seminar's will be co-presented by Sarah Jane Evans MW and Ferrán Centelles who will be joined by chef and cooking instructor Blanca Valencia, one of the most experienced specialists in Spanish gastronomy, who will introduce the attendees to the exceptional world of Spanish cuisine.

For the first tasting Sarah and Blanca will match from Green Spain with canned seafood . The second tasting featuring wines from Mediterranean Spain will be co-presented by Ferrán and Blanca who will pair the wines with cured meats and cheese.

Ferran Centelles

Wine expert Ferrán Centelles was the Sommelier at the world-renowned restaurant, El Bulli for 13 years until its closure. He is chef Ferran Adrià's wine man and has written a number of books for the el Bulli foundation . An international wine judge, he also writes for www.jancisrobinson.com Ferrán is well-known as a wine educator in Spain.

Sarah Jane Evans

Sarah Jane Evans MW is an award-winning wine writer and journalist, she is Co-Chairman of the Decanter World Wine Awards and former Chairman of the IMW (2014-16). As a writer and consultant one of her special interests is Spain and Sherry. She is Chairman of the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino. Sarah Jane is a certified Sherry educator and has been made a Dama de Albariño and Dama de Solear. Her books about Spanish wine include 'Seville', and 'The Wines of Northern Spain'.

 Cook instructor Blanca Valencia 

 

Blanca Valencia

Blanca Valencia is a chef and cooking instructor and is known as one of the most experienced and passionate specialists in Spanish gastronomy. Blanca ran the El Alambique cooking school in Madrid, and the test kitchen at the iconic Books for Cooks in London. She also worked for a specialized food importer in Chicago, selling Spanish food products, advising chefs and giving cooking demonstrations and lectures. Her experience includes gastronomy workshops in New York and Dublin. Blanca co-hosts the podcast Spice Bags which looks at global food from an Irish context.
