20 Spanish Wines Receive Double Gold Distinctions at Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards

Dozens of Spanish wines took home double gold, gold and silver awards after competing with thousands of wines from 29 countries

Spanish wines were triumphant at the 7th SAKURA Japan Women’s Wine Awards in 2020. More than 4,000 wine from 29 countries participated and were blind tasted by 560 female Japanese judges, all of them wine industry experts. In the end there were 256 Double Gold winners, 957 Gold winners and 836 Silver winners.

Double Gold wines from Spain were La Bella 2018 from Artiga Fustel; Vinem Blanco 2019 and Vinem Reserva 2015 from Bodegas Esteban Martin; Venta Real Gran Reserva 2013 from Bodegas Fernando Castro; Rivendel Crianza 2016 from Bodegas El Inicio; Nabal Crianza 2015 from Bodegas Nabal; Protos Reserva 2014 from Bodega Protos; Tres Lunas 2016 from Gil Luna; Nexus Crianza 2015 from Nexus Bodegas; Nebla Verdejo 2019 from Vicente Gandia; Tinto Ribon 2016 from Viñedos y Bodegas Ribon; Albet i Noya Lignum Blanc 2018 from Albet i Noya; Coma Vella 2014 from Mas d’en Gil; Pere Ventura Tresor Reserva Brut 2017 from Pere Ventura; Les Joveres de Margalef 2017 from Ronadelles; Vilarnau Brut Reserva NV from Vilarnau; Finca El Rubio 2014 from Bodegas Marqués del Atrio; Crianza Vendimia Seleccionada 2014 from Marqués de Cáceres; La Montesa 2016 from Palacios Remondo; and Raiza Gran Reserva 2010 from Vicente Gandia.

There were dozens of gold and silver winners as well, reflecting the wide variety of wines made by top-flight Spanish producers.
