Miami is adding a new Spanish restaurant to its extensive dining selection, and this one will have a decidedly Catalan flavor. Morrofino Barcelona is expected to open in October at the boutique AxelBeach Miami Hotel on Collins Avenue, thanks to Telefèric Barcelona Restaurant Group. The owners are a brother-sister duo, Xavi and Maria Padrosa, and they already have three Telefèric Barcelona restaurants in Barcelona and one in Walnut Creek, California. They expect to open another outpost in Palo Alto, California in the coming months.
This new locale is set to stand out with its unique traditions, which include one of the owners, Xavi Padrosa, walking around the dining room with a parrón, i.e. a pitcher filled with spiced Manzanilla sherry, and pouring it directly into customers’ mouths. This is in line with the restaurateur’s plans to “bring the vibrant Spanish party atmosphere to the neighborhood,” according to hauteliving.com.
The menu will feature a wide range of authentic, gourmet dishes, including favorites such as cheese, paella, and meat, plus a selection of tapas and pintxos. The kitchen will be helmed by chef Oscar Cabezas. The beverage list will feature wines from Spain, sangria and cocktails.
There will be a small market attached to the restaurant, called El Mercat, where locals can buy everything from Ibérico ham and cheese to olive oil and wine. And the restaurant will offer interesting activities and events, including paella master classes, dinner by the pool and sangría shows.
