Germany is a priority destination for Spanish producers as it is one of Europe’s biggest importers of olive oil

German consumers, in particular those in Frankfurt, are enjoying one of Spain’s best products at the moment: extra virgin olive oil. The Olive Oil World Tour, a joint initiative from Aceites de Oliva de España and the European Union, has officially touched down in Frankfurt with its campaign “Join the European healthy lifestyle with Olive Oils from Spain. Olive Oil Makes a Tastier World.”

The tour is at the city’s Central Station, a major transportation hub for the entire country. There are ads throughout the station, including on the large screens. There’s also an Olive Oil Lounge, which has a selection of top-flight olive oils from Spain. Travelers can stop in and sample and learn about the wide variety available. There’s also infographics, videos, an area for kids, and Wi-Fi.

Germany is an important market and priority destination for Spanish olive oil producers as it is one of the main olive oil consumers in Europe. More than 97% of its oil imports come from Europe. Back in 2009, Spain exported 7,000 tons of oil to Germany. In 2019, that figure exceeded 16,000. This unique tour, originally launched in 2018, is traveling the world, touching down in major cities in Europe.
