The leading extra virgin olive oil guide in the world saw Spanish oils in the top ten list and among the best healthy oils, organic oils, and in each olive variety category
The 7th edition of the 2023 EVOOLEUM Guide to the World’s Top 100 Extra Virgin Olive Oils, published by Grupo Editorial Mercacei, is hot off the presses. This prestigious guide highlights the very best extra virgin olive oils from around, according to different categories and geographic areas. Unsurprisingly, Spanish oils performed especially well in multiple categories.
Of the top 10 on the list, 4 are from Spain: Rincón de la Subbética Altitude, an Hojiblanca oil from Córdoba; Parqueoliva Serie Oro, a Picuda and Hojiblanca from Córdoba; Puerta de las Villas Picual Temprano, a Picual oil from Jaén; and Fuente del Rey, an Hojiblanca and Picuda oil from Córdoba.
In the Absolute Best and Best Monovarietal categories, both of which featured just 2 oils, 1 was from Spain: Rincón de la Subbética Altitude.
In the Top 10 Healthy EVOOs, 4 Spanish oils appeared on the list: 5 Elementos Gran Selección Picual, Dehesa El Molinillo Reserva de Familia, Livesolives Bio, and Balcón del Guadalquivir.
The Best Blend went to a Spanish oil as well, this time to Parqueoliva Serie Oro Priego de Córdoba PDO, and the Best Green Fruity Oil was Rincón de la Subbética Altitude. The Best Mature Fruity was Olíric Arbequina. Of the top 3 Organic Olive Oils, Rincón de la Subbética Altitude made the grade again.
And in the best varieties categories, Spanish oils were front and center in the Best Royal, Picuda, Picual, Hojiblanca, Cornicabra, Arbosana, and Arbequina categories.
