It will go down as one of the defining moments of 2026. Bad Bunny’s incredible half-time show at the Super Bowl was a grand salute to the Spanish-speaking community worldwide. Yet, for one Spanish restaurant in California, the Puerto Rican superstar’s afterparty was even more memorable. That’s because he followed his stellar performance with a secret supper of authentic Spanish cuisine, at a certified Restaurant From Spain – Macarena Palo Alto, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bad Bunny’s PR team took the restaurant’s owners, David and Elizabeth, by surprise with a phone call asking to book out the entire restaurant for their party of around 50 guests, including family and friends of the star. They had to keep the reservation under wraps, informing the staff only 15 minutes before the arrival of the party, and locking up their phones in a safe, to keep the dinner a private event for Bad Bunny and his entourage.
Spanish cuisine rooted in generations of tradition
A special “Benito Edition” menu was created for the superstar. This incorporated Macarena Palo Alto’s ethic of “Spanish cuisine rooted in generations of tradition.” The all-star Spanish classics on the Benito Edition included jamón ibérico croquetas, oxtail canelones, cones of tuna tartare with orange escabeche, the restaurant’s signature paella, plus crab salad with piquillo peppers.
The diners were also treated to a barrel-aged Garnacha red wine from Bodegas Frontonio in PGI Valdejalón called La Cerqueta 2022. The meal was finished with another of the restaurant’s iconic dishes, saquets de crema, described on their social media as “a very cold vanilla cream, inspired by crema catalana, wrapped in a thin, crisp shell fried to golden perfection.”
Macarena Palo Alto restaurant is celebrating its first year in 2026, making the Bad Bunny Super Bowl booking the perfect birthday gift. Macarena Palo Alto and other certified Restaurants From Spain can be found here.
