Download “Foodtech in Spain: Addressing new challenges across the food value chain” the third report of the Spanish food ecosystem that answers a number of notable questions devised by the current state and challenges of the country's food sector
ICEX presents for the third year the report Foodtech in Spain: Addressing new challenges across the food value chain. The report’s objective is to give a detailed overview of the vast ecosystem of innovation and opportunities linked to Spain’s food and gastronomy industry, which is made up of multiple players including startups, universities, research centres, corporations, and investment.
It is essential to support the internationalization of the foodtech sector and contribute to the efforts that position Spain as a pioneer in the world. The main goal is for the country’s foodtech industry to be a point of reference for international investment. Currently, Spain has one of the most prolific ecosystems of foodtech entrepreneurship. Indeed, over 400 startups are working on developing the future of the agri-food value chain. This figure is comparable to important countries such as the United Kingdom or France.
The report is divided into several sections to give an in-depth analysis of the Spanish foodtech ecosystem. Some of them explore Spain’s position in regard to leading the wave of alternative protein, the development of healthier and more sustainable ingredients, driving a more efficient and sustainable agri-food system, transparency and traceability in the value chain, and the reinvention of foodservice. There is also a whole section dedicated to Technologies ensuring food safety along the value chain in Spain.
