International Opinion Leaders Visited FIG Zafra 2024

Visitors from Venezuela, China and Kazakhstan had the opportunity to explore this Fair and learn more about the Merino and Florida breeds

Several international opinion leaders visited our country as part of the agreement signed between ICEX Spain Export and Investment and the Spanish Federation of Select Livestock Breeding Associations (RFEAGAS). This agreement aimed to strengthen the promotional and commercial activities of the purebred livestock sector in foreign markets by organizing reverse trade missions with foreign buyers and opinion leaders during the most representative Spanish fairs in the sector.

The Zafra International Livestock Fair, which was held from September 26 to October 1, featured the presence of 1,815 animals of various species and breeds, according to initial forecasts, belonging to 131 different farmers/breeders.

In addition to various activities organized by the Breeders' Associations, the Fair, as usual, included National Auctions of Cattle and Sheep and various Morphological Contests.

The international delegation, composed of members from Venezuela, Mr. Aristides Manuel Díaz Lucena, a cattle, sheep, and goat producer; China, Mr. Philip Wong (Zhengzhou City); and Kazakhstan, Mrs. Akhátova Zaúresh, director and principal specialist at the Limited Liability Company of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Forage Production had the opportunity to attend the Zafra International Fair, FIG Zafra 2024, and gain first-hand insight into the characteristics of this Livestock Fair.

The program for the visitors focused on the Merino and Florida breeds. Throughout the week, they not only attended the scheduled activities of the Fair, such as Technical Conferences, but also visited select livestock farms of both breeds. This was made possible with the collaboration of the National Association of Merino Sheep Breeders and the National Association of Florida Goat Breeders (ACRIFLOR).

The presence of international buyers and the quality of planned activities solidify the FIGZAFRA 2024 fair as a key event to promote Spanish livestock globally, positioning the country as a reference in the breeding and promotion of Spanish pure breeds.
