ICEX, in cooperation with METRO CASH & CARRY Serbia, will welcome the HoReCa professionals into the amazing world of Spanish cheeses through a tasting that will be held in Belgrade despite this year’s special conditions. The two groups of maximum 15 people will have the opportunity to hear in person Ms. Snežana Đuričin-Kuštrimović, famous Serbian cheese artist, who will reveal why the Manchego is selected as one of the most important artisanal cheeses in Europe.
The guests will enjoy the sensorial characteristics of the three-month and six-month old Manchego, in comparison with semi-cured goat cheese and will learn which microbiological and biochemical features make this cheese special. The attendees will also discover what rules and standards must be applied during its´preparation and curing to satisfy the standards of Protected Designation of Origin, why the rind of the Manchego has the pattern of esparto grass on it, as well of the other traits due to which Manchego deserves its place in Spanish and global gastronomy.
The presentation on Queso Manchego PDO will be an introduction to the history and numerous varieties of Spanish cheese.
