Expoliva Recognizes the Best Olive Oils in the World

Olive oils from across Spain were recognized with light, intense and medium intensity distinctions

The leading international fair Expoliva will be held this fall, from September 21st to the 25th, although the extra virgin olive oils that will take home quality awards as part of this year’s edition have already been announced.
The panel of judges recognized the extra virgin olive oil from Oro Bailén as the “Gran Picual,” with an honorable mention going to Almazara Cruz de Esteban for its Olivo Real Reserva Familiar oil. Additionally, winners in the conventional/integrated production system category for large production quantities were: Venta de Barón PDO Priego de Córdoba (Almazara de Muela), Oro Bailén “Picual” (Aceites Oro Bailén Galgón), Prólogo (Jaencoop SCA), Oro de Cánava (SCA Nuestra Sra. de los Remedios), Omed “Picual” (Venchipa), La Quinta Esencia Premium Verde (Stmo. Cristo de la Misercordia), Dominus Cosecha Temprana (Monva), and Parqueoliva Serie Oro (Almazaras de la Subbética), among others.

Winners in this category with limited production included: Capricho del Fraile (Fraile Llanos del Castillejo), Hispasur Gold (Knolive Oils), Legado (Hacienda del Colchado), Maquiz (Aceites de Maquiz), Henri Mor (Henri Mor), Olvero (Olvero) and Olivo Real “Arbequina” (Almazara Cruz de Esteban). Winners in the large production organic category were: Rincón de la Subbética (Almazaras de la Subbética), Oro del Desierto “Picual” (Rafael Alonso Aguilera/Oro del Desierto), Cortijo de Suerte Alta “Coupage Natural” (Cortijo Suerte Alta), Oro del Desierto “Coupage”(Rafael Alonso Aguilera/Oro del Desierto), and Almaoliva Bio (Almazaras de la Subbética). Winners in this same category with limited production included: Finca La Torre Selección (Aceites Finca La Torre), Carrasqueño Bio (SCA Virgen del Perpetuo Socorro), Deortegas “Frantoio” (Almazara Deortegas) and Oro Bailén “Picual” (Aceites Oro Bailén Galgón).
