Spanish Wines Win Big at the MUNDUS VINI International Wine Awards

Spain’s wines were recognized for their superior quality, taking home 11 grand gold medals and 173 gold and 155 silver medals.

Spain was triumphant at the 29 th edition of the MUNDUS VINI International Wine Awards, where Spanish wines took home a total of 339 medals from the summer tasting in Germany. This included an impressive 11 grand gold medals, more than any other country in the competition, as well as 173 gold and 155 silver medals. This performance is a true testament to the excellent quality of Spanish wines.

Grand gold winners included 2014 Mileto Reserva (Bodegas Alvia), 2014 Vega Vella Reserva (Bodegas Cornelio Dinastía), 2011 Royal Gran Reserva (Bodegas Franco-Españolas), 2020 Dominio de Ontur Monastrell (Ontalba Sociedad Cooperativa), and 2014 Hacienda El Ternero Reserva DOCa Reserva (Viñedos del Ternero). Gold medal winners included 2018 Pinna Fidelis Vendimia Seleccionada (Pinna Fidelis), 2016 Gran Lerma (Bodegas Lerma), 2018 Creencia con Virtud (Hammeken Cellars), 2018 El Sierro Crianza (Anecoop S. Coop), 2020 Lacrimus Apasionado (Valsanzo SL), and 2019 La Planta (Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro).

Silver medal winners included 2020 El Viejo Castillo de Monlero (Hammeken Cellars), 2020 Mundus Naturalis Red (Anecoop S. Coop), 2020 Diapiro (Bodegas Pinoso), and 2017 Viña Salceda Reserva (Perelada Comercial SA). At this prestigious competition, more than 4,500 wines from 35 countries were tasted and evaluated with a view to finding the very best in the world. The panel of 120 expert judges, among them oenologists, scientists, specialized journalists and wine retailers, came from over 30 countries. Winning wines will be featured in the MUNDUS VINI Magazine, which has a print run of 100,000 copies, and at leading wine fairs such as ProWein.
