What's on

GERMANY FLAG

ProWein has established itself as the largest trade fair for wine and spirits in Germany and the most important international trade fair with over 60,000 visitors from 142 countries.

Bienvenido is therefore the motto again at ProWein 2023, when ICEX/Wein from Spain welcomes international trade visitors to Düsseldorf from 19 to 21 March 2023 in Hall 11 with an impressive portfolio of wine delights.

More than 300 exhibitors will represent almost all Spanish regions of origin at the ICEX/Wine from Spain joint stand - and one thing is already certain: no wish will be left unfulfilled when it comes to Spanish wine. If you want to keep track of everything, the INFOSTAND 11H17 of ICEX/Wine from Spain is the right place to be. The Wine from Spain team will be happy to advise you on exhibitors and regions.

Masterclasses programme:

SUNDAY, MARCH 19th, 2023

11 am | "DOP Cava: The new era of excellence towards sustainability".

Do you already know Cavas of the "Guarda Superior" category? From 2025, this category will be completely converted to organic. Nicole Wolbers reports on the latest developments in the regulations, the zones and the new "elaborador integral" seal.

1 pm | "The power and diversity of Spanish terroirs - with Almudena Alberca MW & Entrecanales Domecq e Hijos".

Fancy some exceptional wines with lots of character? Experience what Spain has to offer with Almudena Alberca MW and Entrecanales Domecq: from the Atlantic-influenced wines of Galicia to the fascinating richness of the Duero and Ebro river valleys.

3 pm | "Bodegas Protos: Protos Experience".

Take a look behind the scenes of the traditional Protos winery from Ribera del Duero with David Schwarzwälder. The pioneering spirit has been here since 1927 - and it is still the driving force behind the now globally active company.

5 pm | "DOP Yecla: Organic Great Value made by Monastrell".

The Monastrell grape variety is an essential part of the Yecla PDO. Discover with Yvonne Heistermann wines with berry aromas that have long since made a name for themselves in over 50 countries.

MONDAY, MARCH 20th, 2023

10.30 am | "DOP Cariñena: Passion Garnacha from Bodegas Esteban Martín".

Can it be organic? Bodegas Esteban Martín cultivates 30 percent of its vineyards organically and is thus considered a pioneer in sustainability. David Schwarzwälder explains what the ozone injection is all about and how vegan wines succeed.

12 p.m. | "Gil Family Estates - A journey through the Spanish wine-growing regions".

Eleven wineries in different DOPs - and one credo since 1916: autochthonous grape varieties and the preservation of old vines. David Schwarzwälder brings exciting, high-quality wines from Gil Family Estates to the glass, wines that reflect the unifying spirit of the family business.

1.30 pm "ICEX – Foods and Wines fom Spain proudly presents: 'The Book of Sherry' by César Saldaña... and more news from the Sherry Triangle".

Experience a real world premiere: "The Book of Sherry Wines" by César Saldaña, President of the Control Board of the DOPs Sherry, Manzanilla and Vinagre de Jerez, published in English by ICEX/Foods and Wines from Spain and presented by the author himself.

3 pm "Power and Precision - Highland Monastrells from the DOP Jumilla".

This is where great wines come into the glass. David Schwarzwälder presents his highlights from the DOP Jumilla. The Mediterranean highland region is the origin of organic farming and home of the Monastrell (Mourvèdre) variety.

4.30 p.m. "DOP Campo de Borja: Historic Garnachas".

True treasures of the DOP Campo de Borja are its "historic" Garnachas. Tasting by David Schwarzwälder and José Ignacio Gracia reveals the longevity and exact age of the vinyards - with wines from the Ribera del Ebro to the Somontano of Moncayo.
