Wines from Spain are delighted to have hosted a wine tasting in London for Spanish producers keen to distribute their wines in the UK. As a means to continue supporting the Spanish wine trade during these challenging times, all Spanish producers who were due to take part in the exporters section of Wines from Spain’s Annual Tasting earlier this year were invited to take part in this special event.

With the objective of identifying those wines that stand out as having the most potential for this market, the socially distanced tasting was conducted by a panel of three local wine experts from different areas of the UK trade on 17th September 2020.

The results

Tim Atkin MW (wine journalist), Noel Young (Noel Young Wines) and Beth Willard (Direct Wines) were tasked with tasting the line-up of 82 wines from across 20 DOP, all of which are new to the UK. All wines were scored individually, with all aspects from style, to pricing and packaging being considered.

During the lively debate that ensued over the course of an afternoon, the panel selected the following shortlist of 17 wines, all of which scored 90+ points.
