A new project called MF The Wine Edition has launched this year, as part of the Madrid Fusión gastronomy conference, which will run from May 31st to June 2nd and is being sponsored by Wines from Spain.

This new conference seeks to highlight new trends and new leaders in the wine industry and to provide a platform for debate and education. It will be held in person, with a home viewing option as well, allowing people from all over the world to “attend.”

For those that physically attend the event, there will be a wide range of tastings, pairings and activities, along with presentations by sector leaders such as Pedro Ballesteros MW, Josep Roca, Ferran Centelles, Andreas Kubach MW and Norrel Robertson MW.

Wineries will be able to present their new wine projects, talk about sector trends and lead one-of-a-kind tastings. González Byass will host a sherry tasting that celebrates Tio Pepe’s 180-year history; Muriel wines will offer a vertical tasting of reds and whites from Conde de los Andes; Pago de los Capellanes will offer a tasting of old and new wines; Juvé & Camps will host a special tasting; Arzuaga will host a tasting of their wines paired with food; and Ramón Bilbao will hold a tasting featuring its “most charismatic” wines, made using concrete vats. There will be a vertical tasting of Tinto de Pesquera; a musical tasting by Queirón, complete with a guitarist; a tasting of DO wines from Andalusia; a tasting of wines from Castile-León led by Pedro Ballesteros MW; and a guided tasting of “legendary wines” from Tenerife.

In the afternoons, there will be master classes focused on wine and gastronomy. Norrel Robertson MW will lead a class entitled “Garnachas From Around the World,” Pedro Ballesteros MW will talk about how to ensure that a young wine becomes a “great” wine over the course of the aging process, and Josep Roca will talk about wines impacted by landscape and climate.
