Marqués de Murrieta Wins Best of 2023 Award from Great Wine Capitals Global Network

This 'bodega' in La Rioja is committed to wine tourism, tradition, and innovation and recently inaugurated a new 25,000 m2 complex

The Marqués de Murrieta winery is celebrating a very big win. The DOCa Rioja-based winery received the prestigious international distinction, Best of 2023, by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network at the Best of Wine Tourism awards, officially ranking it as the best winery in the world according to the network. The winners  were announced at a special ceremony in Mendoza, Argentina.

Marqués de Murrieta competed with other leading bodegas from around the world for this prestigious accolade. The panel  of judges underscored “… the perfect balance between history and modernity felt in the idyllic space  in the Marqués de Murrieta buildings” and “the excellence of its wines, its international presence, and its image,” according to the winery’s website. The bodega was also recognized for its wine tourism projects, which include visits, visits and tastings, visits and tastings with a haute cuisine meal, virtual visits, and several other options.

The winery, which is located in Ygay Castle, which is one of Europe’s oldest buildings, recently celebrated its 170th anniversary. It continues to expand its reach, recently inaugurating a 25,000 m2 complex of buildings to produce and age its stellar wines which took 6 years to build. The company is committed to both maintaining its traditions while also implementing innovative initiatives.
