Spanish Ministry Announces Winners of the Alimentos de España Awards for Extra Virgin Olive Oils

Alimentos de España Awards for Extra Virgin Olive Oils Awards seek to raise the profile of high quality extra virgin olive oils from Spain and promote this healthy product among consumers.

The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has officially announced the winners of the Alimentos de España award for the best extra virgin olive oils in 2020-2021. There are three categories: sweet green fruity, bitter green fruity, and ripe fruity.
This prestigious accolade is presented every year and this year the Special Prize went to Venchipa S.L., whose oil stood out in particular for its organoleptic qualities.

In the sweet green fruity category, Venchipa took the top prize for its intense, complex and balanced oil, and finalists included Agropecuaria Carrasco SL and Explotaciones Jaime SL.

In the bitter green fruity category, the award went to Cooperativa Andaluza Nuestra Señora de los Remedios for its balanced and highly complex oil, and the finalists were Almazaras de la Subbética SCA and Knolive Oils SL.

In the ripe fruity category, Grupo Valdecuevas Agro, SLU was the main award for its oil, and finalists were Sant Isidre i Sec. Credit Juncosa de Les Garrigues SCCL and Aceites Olivar del Valle SL.

A total of 64 oils participated in this year’s event. The objective of these distinctions is to raise awareness about this product among consumers, raise the profile of top quality extra virgin olive oils from Spain, and inspire and encourage producers to continue making their oils.
