Logroño Featured in ‘The Washington Post’ for its Food and Wine Offer

Although Logroño isn’t on people’s radars, it’s got plenty to offer in terms of art, culture, food, and wine, and even better—it’s not overrun with tourists

A Spanish city is in the spotlight in a major US media. The Washington Post has recognized Logroño as a spectacular destination for multiple reasons.

First of all, it’s not as popular as other Spanish destinations and capitals, with the result that visitors can enjoy a city that is not at all overrun by tourists. Second, the city has really been blossoming in recent years, with new hotels, restaurants, and bars opening their doors. Third, it has a healthy art and cultural offer.

Beyond that, Logroño has a lot to offer tourists. This includes wineries with production centers and tasting rooms, such as Arizcuren and Bodegas Franco Españolas. Both offer reasonably priced tours, tastings, and snacks. Another appealing feature is the budget-friendly pinchos bars.

Calles San Juan and Laurel are packed with places that serve both traditional and modern bites. Visitors would be wise to sample the crispy pig ear sandwiches, available at many of the restaurants there, and to wash it down with a delicious glass of Rioja wine DOCa .

Although Logroño isn’t on the map when it comes to “foodie cities,” now more than ever it can hold it’s own. Home to 3 Michelin-star restaurants, the main theme is a mix of culinary cultures combining Basque delights with other cuisines, such as Mexican and Ecuatorian. As local chefs have traveled extensively, they incorporate their culinary experiences in other countries in their dishes.
