San Sebastián Gastronomika to Attract World’s Top Chefs, International Journalists, and Opinion Leaders

Michele Buster, the founder of Forever Cheese, will take home the Foods and Wines From Spain Award

 San Sebastian Gastronomika will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year and run from October 9th to the 11th. The Kursaal Congress Centre will again be playing host to many of the leading players over the last two and a half decades.

This year’s event, which is supported by ICEX, is entitled The Future of History, and will feature speakers from Spain such as Angel León, Ferran Adrià, Eneko Atxa, Javier Olleros, Joan Roca, Begoña Rodrigo, Ricard Camarena, Elena Arzak, Paco Morales, Rodrigo de la Calle, Diego Guerrero, and Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casañas, among others. International speakers include Rene Redzepi, Viviana Varese, Alex Atala, and Matthew Lightner.

The Food and Wines From Spain Award, which is sponsored by ICEX, recognizes those people and projects around that help raise awareness about the excellent and highly diverse Spanish products around the world. Now in its second edition, the award will go to Michele Buster, founder of Forever Cheese, an important importer of Mediterranean cheeses based in New York and she will receive it on October 10. Food and Wines from Spain also organizes the round table 'Spanish produce in Japan and the United States as a bridge' that will take place on October 11.

Journalists and Opinion Leaders: A Travel Through Taste

A group of journalists and opinion leaders from Poland, China, Japan, Mexico, the US, Germany, Colombia, and the UK will be part of a VIP program held in tandem with San Sebastian Gastronomika.

On October 8, they will have dinner at Bailara Restaurant in Irarte Jauregia Hotel at Bidania-Goiatz where they wil lenjoy the creative, simple and honest cuisine from chef Enrique Fleischamnn with the utmost respect for the product in a 17th century palace in a beautiful inland valley of Guipúzcoa.

On October 9, they will attend the Official Welcome Party at Palacio de Miramar, celebrating San Sebastián Gastronomika 25th anniversary.

On October 10, they will enjoy dinner at  Ama restaurant in Tolosa, where chefs Gorka Rico and Javier Rivero, winners of Madrid Fusión 2023 Revelation Chef Award, represent the generational change of Basque cuisine.
