Hangzhou, with over 10.36 million inhabitants and more than 22,102$ per capita income in 2019, is the capital of Zhejiang, one of the most important financial, industrial, commercial provinces in eastern China. Hangzhou’s economic aggregate ranks 4th among those provincial cities after Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Wuhan, and 10th among large and medium-sized cities. In 2019, Hangzhou has increased 8.5% in goods import with a total amount at 198,400 million in RMB. Cereals, seafood, wine, dairy food, meat, pastry and cookies, fruit and dry fruit, honey, edible oil, and canned food are top 10 imported categories of the Zhejiang province. Hangzhou also is the base of the Alibaba Group, the most influential eCommerce company in China.
The previous editions of the Open Days got together more than 400 professionals (importers, distributors, food service professionals, sommeliers and media specialists) and more than 100 final consumers. Other related activities like Spanish ham and cheese tasting took place.
The Economic & Commercial Office of Spain and ICEX, as the official trade promotion body of the Spanish Government in China, have more than 20 years’ experience organizing promotional events in this country, developing relations between Spanish companies and Chinese importers and distributors, as well as promoting the image of quality and excellence of Foods and Wines from Spain.
