Spanish Day at Taste the Mediterranean

Several activities will be held on October 8th and 9th to celebrate Spanish food and drink as part of the Taste The Mediterranean event in Split, Croatia.
8th October 2020
Gourmet Products from Spain Tasting
This first is a gourmet product tasting, which will be held on the 8th in the morning, along with a cooking demo or product presentation from a leading Spanish or Croatian chef. It will be geared towards procurement managers from hotel chains and restaurants, chefs, gourmet food chains, trade media and importers specializing in gourmet products.
Spanish Wines Tasting
The second event, to be held on the 8th in the afternoon, is a wine tasting led by a renowned Croatian sommelier, to be attended by chefs and managers from restaurants and hotels, sommeliers and wine and food importers.
Gala dinner
The third event, to be held on the 8th in the evening, is a dinner paired with Spanish PDO or PGI wines and prepared by Spanish chef Maria José San Román. It will be hosted at Briig Boutique Hotel and attendees will be importers, distributors and the Croatian trade media. The same wines from the tasting will be served with dinner.

Additionally, on the morning of October 9th, Aspira catering school in Split in Split will host a wine presentation.
These activities will feature a mix of gourmet products, some of which have a presence in the market and others that are looking to gain a foothold in Croatia. Moreover, efforts to promote Spanish wine in Croatia have been under way since 2015.
Organized by ICEX Spain Trade and Investment and the Spanish Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Office in Croatia, these activities seek to raise the profile of Spain’s products and strengthen their presence in Croatia, whose consumers regularly vacation in Spain and have shown a growing interest in Spanish wines.
