Desafia meets Food 4 Future at Get In The Ring Bilbao. The Spanish foodtech sector were present during the second edition of the Food 4 Future Fair which took place in Bilbao from May 17 to 19. Food 4 Future - Expo Foodtech Food is the leading international event of the sector in Spain, where professionals from the entire value chain of the food sector will meet and present the latest foodtech solutions for the different segments of the food industry.
In addition, it hosts the Food 4 Future World Summit, the largest European congress in which attendees discover the latest trends, success stories and tools to transform the food and beverage industry.
Under the topic "The Foodtech Revolution", the second edition of Food 4 Future aims to position Spain FoodTech Nation Brand by ICEX at an international level giving the opportunity to professionals from all the food industry value chain to find their technological partner to drive innovation throughout their operating model. Spain Food Tech Nation, in its commitment to internationalization, participated by developing different actions:
In the Congress aspect, by inviting international speakers from Israel, Norway, Ireland and the Netherlands, and taking advantage of being a guest country, top-level representatives of investment funds, academics from Wageningen University and the main international corporations based in the country participated.
Graham Cross, founder of the company Innosapiens talked about the future of Food in the FOOD 2030: signs from the future session, that took place in the main auditorium.
Neville M. Mchina, CEO of Invisible Foods and known to his peers as “Robin Food”, is on a mission to redistribute and rescue Food, talked about how reduce food waste in agribusiness through Big Data and IoT, together with Mirjam Niessen, Impact investment manager in the DOEN Foundation.
Willem Knaap, venture Builder and Innovation Lead at Venture Planner, introduced a table about the value proposition of Investment Funds and AgriFoodTech, where among others topics, programs such as Rising Up in Spain were discussed.
Peter Olsen from Norway, Alex Wan from Ireland and Shir Friedman from Israel, were also participating in the Congress.
In the exhibition part, with the new stand SPAINFOODTECH, the DESAFIA NL program highlighted with the participation of the 14 companies of the first two editions, who participated in matchmaking activities with investors and corporations visiting the fair, as well as participated in a showdown "Get in the ring", in which two of the companies competed against each other presenting their innovative projects. Mimic Sea Food was the winner and got a ticket to the Global Meetup 2022 to meet their next business partners!
Finally, Spain Food Tech Nation sponsored the Spanish startup with the greatest international projection Award, that seeks to recognize the Spanish startup with the best food tech solution that is considered to have a fully defined global impact in tackling some of the major challenges facing the food and beverage industry.
This year’s winner was Heura Foods, and Bread Free was among the finalists.
