International Young Sommelier Championships

The three-day International Young Sommelier Championships will take place on 9 – 11^th October in Warsaw. The best sommeliers up to 30 years old can participate and, apart from the Polish, there is a lot of candidates from neighbor countries. The list of the competitors will be published soon. In the previous edition organized in 2019 there were sommeliers from 12 countries competing: Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Cyprus, Serbia, Slovakia, Germany, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Foods and Wines from Spain and Rueda DO are partners of the Championship and thanks to that the guests of the event will have the opportunity to taste the verdejo wines from Rueda appellation during the competition.

During the 2023 International Young Sommelier Championships, competitors will compete in practical and theoretical games. The jury will evaluate service and blind tastings, as well as the knowledge on wine, enology, wine countries geography, etc. The competition has three stages: preliminaries, semifinals and the final - the clash of the three best competitors at the Final Gala. This one will take place on Wednesday, October 11th, in a flash of light and in front of a large audience. The Gala will also be broadcast live on social media.

During Wednesday's Gala, guests and competitors will be able to taste wines during an "walk around" tasting organized by the competition's partners, one of them Rueda appellation.

The previous day Tuesday, October 10th, contestants will participate in workshops and seminars. One of them will be dedicated to the Spanish appellation Rueda. The Spanish tasting will be a great warm-up for the competitors of the Championship finals. Keep your fingers crossed.

Polish International Sommelier Championships

The three-day Polish International Sommelier Championships will begin on May 26^th in Warsaw. In addition to competitors from Poland, representatives of sommelier associations from other countries will take part in the Championships for the first time.

Foods and Wines from Spain and DO Vinos de Madrid are partners of the Championship and guests of the event will have the opportunity to taste wines from the Vinos de Madrid appellation during the competition.

During the 2023 Polish Sommelier Championships, competitors will compete in practical and theoretical games. The previous day Saturday, May 27^th, contestants will participate in workshops and seminars. One of them will be dedicated to the Spanish appellation Vinos de Madrid. Ewa Starzycka, the only person in Poland certified with the official title of Spanish Wines Educator will present the wines during the seminar. The Spanish tasting will be a great warm-up for the competitors of the Championship finals. Keep your fingers crossed.
