The Spain Food Nation Summit 2025 is scheduled for the morning of September 11th at the Swissotel Hotel in Shanghai, highlighting the quality of Spanish food and beverages and boosting trade relations between Spain and China.
China continues to be a key market for agrifood exports for Spain and it is the third largest market for Spanish agrifood products outside the EU. In Shanghai, China’s dazzling metropolis of innovation, European gastronomy thrives alongside skyscrapers and the city keeps standing out as Asia’s most dynamic crossroads of culture and progress.
The event targets a select audience of Chinese importers, representatives from foodservice and distribution industries, key opinion leaders, and specialized press.
The Summit will start with offering the opportunity to display the icons of the Spanish pantry, enhancing Spain's image of high quality, diversity, and healthy diet.
This will enable the attendants the opportunity to get to know firsthand the most representative products that Spain exports to China. The event will also provide a unique platform for the #SpainFoodNation Advisory Council, a select group of experts, to present its conclusions about the agrifood products of Spain in the Chinese market. The council will give crucial inputs to understand the market situation and best practices, thereby setting the path for future strategies for Spanish imported products in China.
To accomplish this important task, gather and align a diverse and representative number of views on different subjects, two Advisory Councils will present their work: A beverages and wine Council, and a Foodstuff Council. Both councils, along with additional expert consultations, have worked extensively to gather diverse perspectives and craft informed strategies tailored to the Chinese market. The Beverages and Wine Council will also explore more specific topics, such as the “Key insights and challenges for the imported wine market in Chinese ecommerce”. This includes crafting a compelling narrative that resonates with Chinese consumers online. Furthermore, the Food council will analyze “Market opportunities and challenges for Spanish food brands in China´s ecommerce” Targeting China's rich and evolving gastronomic landscape, enhancing the visibility and appeal of Spanish food culture online.

Spanish industry associations present in China will be able to enhance their exposure and offer a unified image of Spain as SpainFoodNation in front of a select audience, where experiences as Iberian Ham carving or beverage tasting will take place.
Foods and Wines from Spain (FWS), through the Economic and Commercial Office of the Spanish Embassy in Shanghai, and Alimentos de España are organizing SPAIN FOOD NATION SUMMIT CHINA 2025, as a part of the Spain Food Nation Campaign. During the Summit, it will also present the situation of the agrifood sector of Spain in China
The Restaurants from Spain program will highlight the new certified restaurants in China on the last period, they will be joining the prestigious club accompanying the renewals from the existing certified establishments in the country.
The closing of the event will mark the official launch of the "Eat Spain, Drink Spain" campaign in China. During this segment, the campaign’s visual identity will be unveiled, along with an overview of the planned activities designed to promote Spanish gastronomy and beverages across the Chinese market.
To provide opportunities for engagement among attendees, a networking cocktail will be held, featuring Spanish traditional recipes and exhibition booths representing leading Spanish industry associations.
