Spanish Oils Win 5 of the 9 Best in Show Awards at Olive Japan 2020

Spanish oils also took home more than 100 gold and 50 silver medals at this prestigious international competition

Spanish olive oils were in the spotlight in Japan at Olive Japan 2020. In total, more than 700 oils from 23 countries around the world competed for gold and silver medals and special and premier awards. They were assessed by 20 Japanese judges. In the end, just 9 oils took home the Best of Show 2020 distinction and 284 gold and 277 silver medals were presented.

Of the 9 Best in Show accolades, 5 oils were from Spain, from Aceites CampolivaKnolive OilsOleicultors de l’AlgarsRafael Alonso Aguilera, and Aroden. In the 2nd Best in Show category there were 3 Spaniards: Maria Miro Arias, Palacio de los Olivos, and the Green Gold Olive Oil Company.

More than 100 Spanish oils received gold medals, among them Hacienda La Serrata, Dehesa El Molinillo, Cortijo del Prado, Casa del Aguila, Fuenquesada, Oleocampo, Olimagina, Tuccioliva, and Pagos de Toral. There were over 50 silver medal winners, such as Olis Cuquello, OleumPriorat, Deoleo, Hacienda Gúzman, Campolea, Masia El Altet, and Marqúes del Valdueza.

The Best Flavored Olive Oil award also went to a Spanish company, namely Sanchez Fernandez de Rute.
