Special guests Wines from Spain and the wine region D.O. Campo de Borja at CHEF-SACHE 2022
Wines from Spain will be at CHEF-SACHE again this year! From 25 to 26 September 2022, the top-class gastronomic event will open its doors in Düsseldorf's Areal Böhler and once again Wines from Spain will be there to present the variety and high quality of its wines to the gastronomy. Around 2,000 experts and decision-makers from gastronomy and the hotel industry, over 100 exhibitors and the renowned "School of Wine" make the 13th edition of CHEF-SACHE a platform that sets new impulses within the industry - for a vibrant culinary scene. This year's guest at the "School of Wine" is the small but fine Spanish wine appellation Campo de Borja DO. As part of the School of Wine, journalist and expert on Iberian wines, David Schwarzwälder, will present a portfolio of exclusive Garnacha specialities on Monday 26 September from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
The Campo de Borja DO is considered the undisputed empire of Garnacha beyond the Spanish borders. With its topographical contrasts, Campo de Borja offers an immense selection of highly interesting terroirs. The great differences in altitude make the appellation the most versatile growing area in Aragón, with Garnacha tinta as the protagonist. Vines are grown from 300 to 930 metres above sea level, and the soil structures change from clay to limestone to slate due to the different folds. The cooling mountain wind from the northwest and the often extremely old vines are also decisive. Of a total of 4,000 hectares planted with Garnacha, the vines on 2,000 hectares are between 30 and 50 years old.
The red wines from Campo de Borja are considered fruity and quite powerful. They are excellent food companions and therefore made for sommeliers, F&B managers, sous chefs and service staff with a high affinity for food-and-wine pairing.

The Atlantic wines of the DO Rías Baixas at the Sommelier Campus 2022
After a two-year break, the long-awaited Sommelier Campus will take place again from 12 to 13 June 2022 - hosted and organised by the German Sommelier Union. The guest location is the 445-year-old Juliusspital in Würzburg, a magical place with a long history of winegrowing and -making.
The multifaceted nature of the sommelier profession is ultimately what makes it so exciting. But it is a challenge to always stay up to date. The exchange with colleagues is just as important as regular further training. For this reason, after the official part, both days will again be dedicated to top-class masterclasses to which only members of the Sommelier Union have exclusive access. ICEX Wine from Spain and the Rías Baixas DO will also participate in this year's training and bring all participants up to date on the fresh, Atlantic-influenced white wines of the Galician winegrowing region. In Rías Baixas, climate, landscape, soils and the autochthonous grape varieties - above all the white Albariño - add up to a region that is capable of producing distinctive, high-quality wines that are enormously diverse within one grape variety. The diversity of Albariño styles is a reflection of the different sub-regions of the Rías Baixas. Starting with soft, flowery Albariños from the border with Portugal, through acidic, taut Cambados from the limestone-dominated Atlantic coast, to continental and structured Albariños from the interior. David Schwarzwälder takes the participants on an expert and very entertaining "journey" through this diverse region with an exemplary selection of 10 wines:
