What's on
Foods and Wines from Spain and the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office in Abidjan have joined forces to hold the Taste Spain-Saveur d'Espagne Côte d'Ivoire event, which will bring together 10 major Spanish wineries. This event consists of wine tasting in which Spanish wineries give a taste of one of their products to high-level Ivorian importers and distributors.
This tasting will be guided by a prestigious French sommelier, Marc Paitier, expert in Spanish wine and accompanied by a meal consisting of Spanish tapas, which will accompany the wine exceptionally well. The sommelier will give a presentation on Spanish wine, the history of the vineyards and wineries in our country, etc. In addition, local importers will receive a promotional kit that will include a catalogue of the exhibitors with all their contact information, as well as promotional material about Spanish wines.
After the guided tasting, each winery will give a short (3-5 minutes) online presentation about their wine in which they can explain the region, the origin of their winery and the product chosen for the tasting. The sommelier will then include comments on the characteristics of the wine presented (1-2 minutes). This will be preceded by a round of questions from the importers.
Agenda
11.45 Start of the event: Arrival of the participants
12.00 Sommelier Marc Paitier will start his presentation with a general overview of Spanish wine. He will then present the wines brought by the participants.
13.00 The Spanish wine tasting will start and will be accompanied by a lunch consisting of a variety of Spanish tapas combined with Spanish wines provided by the companies.
14.00 During the lunch and tasting, the Spanish companies will explain the history of the company, their territory and their product. This presentation will be followed by a series of questions.
16.00 End of the event
This hybrid activity is a fantastic opportunity to connect Spanish companies without the need to travel to the Ivory Coast with Ivorian importers who can enjoy first-hand the wonderful Spanish wines.
In the Ivory Coast, a market in which the wine sector is dominated by the French, there is room for new Spanish companies to make a niche for themselves, due to the interest of Ivorian importers in introducing new products at a competitive price, but of exceptional quality.
The wineries participating in the event are the following:
