The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Vilnius (in charge of the markets of Lithuania and Latvia) in cooperation with ICEX Spain Exports and Investments is organizing a tasting of Spanish wines and gourmet food products, with the aim of promoting of those already present in Latvian market and presenting new ones that may be of interest of Latvian consumers.

With this tasting we do not only want to offer specific options that could be successful in the Latvian market, but also, we want to show the attendees examples of the huge variety of products, with different flavours and nuances, that Spain's agri-food sector can offer.

The tasting will take place on the 13th of October and will be guided by two professionals: Janis Kalkis, a professional sommelier, and Víctor Martín García, a renowned chef. 

Janis Kalkis

Janis Kalkis is the President of Latvian Sommelier Association and one of the most renowned wine experts in the Baltic states. He has more than 15 years of experience and during his professional career he has several times won the title of the best Latvian sommelier and the best sommelier of the Baltics. 

Víctor Martín

Víctor Martín García is a professional chef with more than 15 years of experience. Since 2007 he is the chef and owner of the restaurant Trigo that is located in the centre of Valladolid and is a perfect place to enjoy Spanish contemporary cuisine with its roots in traditional recipes and a strong focus on exquisite presentation and ingredients sourced from Castilla y León region. In 2018 the restaurant was awarded one Michelin Star. 

TASTING SPANISH FLAVOURS is a meeting point for importers, distributors, specialized journalists, sommeliers, and representatives of HoReCa sector. This year we will be presenting 8 food products (cured meat products, extra virgin olive oil, fish preserves) and 8 wines that include red, rosé, white and sparkling wines from a wide variety of regions (Rioja DO, Ribera del Duero, Priorat, Cava, Cariñena, Cigales).
