ICEX/Foods and Wines from Spain in the Netherlands, in cooperation with the Dutch Guild of Sommeliers, is organizing a tasting, exclusively for members of the guild. The theme of the tasting is Spanish wines from the regions of Valencia and Murcia.

During the presentation, that will take place on 10 October 2022, Dutch expert on Spanish wines, Ibert van der Waal MV, will present wines from the autonomous regions of Valencia and Murcia.

This activity took place in Cielo Skybar Amsterdam, one of the restaurants with the Restaurants from Spain Certification, located inside the hotel Melia in Amstredam. Participation in this tasting was only possible for members of the NGS.

The regions of Valencia and Murcia are becoming increasingly well known in the Netherlands. It is therefore not surprising that the gastronomy from the area is also interesting to discover. The Dutch Guild of Sommeliers is always actively involved in informing members about important wine regions through professional tastings. Now is the time to get better acquainted with Mediterranean wine from Valencia and Murcia. During this tasting, sommeliers can deepen their knowledge and taste several wines to have a better idea of the variety of wines that these regions have to offer.

Spanish Wine Expert Ibert van der Waal MV

Ibert van der Waal is Magister Vini in the Netherlands and, as sales manager for Wijnimport J. Bart, he has been closely involved in the purchase of Spanish wines for the catering industry since the mid-1990s. By visiting wine buying fairs, wine producers, tasting at wine competitions and organizing wine trips for the Wine Academy and regular private visits, his love for Spain has only grown. The diverse regions, climates, landscapes and cultures can be found in the rich offer and 'hart' of many well-known and lesser-known Spanish wines.
