Cava Academy Helps Turn Industry Professionals into Cava Experts

This new initiative from DO Cava, the Cava Academy, will help spread the love for this sparkling wine

The DO Cava has a fun and ambitious new initiative: the very first certified online private training school, known as Cava Academy. It was created on the heels of several successful in-person cava training sessions offered in Belgium, the UK, and the United States.

The ultimate goal is to make training available and accessible to everybody and to turn industry professionals from every part of the world into devoted cava experts.

This online platform will provide high-level instruction by some of the sector's top professionals both in Spain and from around the world. The program is multilingual and is available in Catalan, English and Spanish.

The training involves audio visual content, interactive test, videos, and tutorials. The goal is to create an intuitive experience that students can complete at their own pace and it will cover topics such as viticulture, production, quality guarantees, and pairings. It will also include tastings led by some of the most well-known cava ambassadors around, such as Pedro Ballesteros MW or Ferran Centelles. Throughout the program students will be invited to take part in master classes and visit  virtually several wineries. Finally participants will take an exam and achieve an official diploma as a certified cava trainer.

The Cava Regulatory Board’s phone is ringing off the hook as wine lovers are constantly getting in touch, asking how to learn more about this outstanding sparkling wine.

The academy experience will be quite exclusive, allowing at most 40 students at a time. The first deadline for applications is the end of August 2021.
