Three New Members Inducted into the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino
José Pizarro, Peter Sisseck and Owen Morgan were recently inducted and recognized for their contributions to the promotion of Spanish wine
Three new people have been inducted into the Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino: José Pizarro, from José Pizarro Restaurants; Peter Sisseck, from Dominio de Pingus and Fino Viña Corrales; and Owen Morgan, from Bar 44 Group. This is an extremely important honor, and the new members were recognized for their excellent contribution to Spanish wine in Spain and the UK and were chosen for inclusion by their peers. They officially joined at the 36th Caballeros Investiture Dinner held recently in London.
Chef Pizarro has a network of restaurants across the UK, including José Tapas Bar, Pizarro Restaurant, 3 different José Pizarro venues, and Poster Bar by José. He has also made appearances across the media, on Weekend Kitchen with Waitrose, The Food Network’s The Big Eat and on BBC One’s Saturday Kitchen.
Though Winemaker Peter Sisseck is originally Danish, he arrived in Ribera del Duero in 1990 and launched Pingus in 1995. He is a staunch supporter of Fino and he launched Fino Viña Corrales after purchasing a winery and vineyards in Jerez.
Morgan is not only a Certified Sherry educator, but he’s also the co-owner of Bar 44 Group, with outposts in Cardiff, Cowbridge, Bristol and Penarth. He and his restaurants have received several awards over the years, such as being named one of the Best 25 New Restaurants in the UK and one of the top 50 influences in the UK restaurant and bar trade. The Gran Orden de Caballeros del Vino was originally found in 1985 by Wines from Spain to recognize those professionals who have made noteworthy achievements in the education and business of quality Spanish wines.
