It has also taken home the distinction for the Best Wine Book in the 2022 International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards for Spain

This text offers an extensive look at this unique product, covering everything from its history to the production process and the different types of sherries on the market. It offers an up-close look at the grape harvest, the winemaking process, and sherry wineries, and seeks to serve as an extensive manual dedicated to Spain’s fortified wines.

The book begins 3,000 years ago and looks at how the natural conditions in the area, together with local winemakers’ experience and knowledge, gave rise to such singular wines. It looks at history, oenology, and culture, and offers the most exhaustive overview to date on these wines.

Saldaña has extensive experience in the industry and is the perfect person to take readers on a journey to better understand a multifaceted product like sherry wine.

He’s originally from Jerez and has worked almost exclusively in international wine trade and ecommerce. He held leadership positions at the González Byass and Sandeman wineries, and he joined the DO Jerez-Xeres-Sherry, Manzanilla-Sanlucar de Barrameda, and Vinagre de Jerez regulatory council in 2000, where he has been its director general and is currently president.

If you’re looking for the perfect plan, it involves pouring yourself a glass of your favorite sherry wine and sitting down to read Saldaña’s new book.
