Bodegas Torres an Vega Sicilia in the Top 5 of the World’s Most Admired Wine Brands

Drinks International magazine has published The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands, with its selection for 2026. Representing in the Top 5 are Torres Winery at 3rd, and Vega Sicilia at 4th, with other Spanish wineries coming up once more on the list.

There are two Spanish brands making the list for the first time in 2026, namely Scala Dei from DOQ Priorat and Juvé & Camps from DO Penedès, which also achieved the highest new entry award. Spain is clearly the nation with the most influential wine brands of 2026, with two of its brands (Torres Winery and Vega Sicilia) in the top 5, and a great variety of regions gaining positions, ranging from DOC Rioja to DOQ Priorat and DO Penedès.

The Spanish ranking came in as follows:

3rd - Familia Torres in DO Penedès, the most globally recognized Spanish wine brand, and a noted brand leader in sustainable wines, lauded for its heritage spanning 150 years and a quality, diverse profile of Spanish wines.

4th - Vega Sicilia, the DO Ribera del Duero winery with iconic, high-end status that climbed five places since last year, thanks to its revered fine wines that offer an unwavering level of excellence and respect for its origins.

9th - CVNE, from DOC Rioja, a long-established winery of 140 years with its building designed by Gustave Eiffel.

10th - La Rioja Alta, another DOC Rioja winery, that is revered for its traditional craftsmanship combined with modernity.

25th - Marqués de Cáceres, DOC Rioja winery combining classic Spanish wine with French styles.

26th - Juvé & Camps, one of the pioneers in cava from DO Penedès, gaining the highest new entry this year thanks to its worldwide recognition.

37th - Faustino, a massive exporter of DOC Rioja, classic brand with historical appeal.

39th - Cordoníu, the original cava house of DO Penedès, one of the world’s great sparkling wine producers.

40th - Abadal, bringing DO Pla de Bages to the forefront in new wines from Catalonia.

41st - Scala Dei, an historic winemaking estate in DOQ Priorat which has entered the ranking for the first time.

Based on a popular vote by wine professionals, journalists, educators and MWs, the list is formed by established candidates along with up-and-coming brands. When there is a tied vote, a small panel of judges assembles to decide the final positions, using a strict criteria of selection, based on the following:

Wines of consistent or improving quality
Wines that reflect region or country of origin
Wines responding to needs and tastes of target audience
Wines that are well marketed and packaged
Wines with strong appeal to a wide demographic

The Spanish brands that made the cut reflect the success in the Spanish wine industry, with wineries finding a balance with their centuries of tradition, historical heritage and modern innovation, while thinking forward to sustainability and the future of quality Spanish wines.
