Foods and wines from southern Spain were recently front and center in Mexico. The Gourmet Andalusian Products Expo, now in its second edition, was held on June 6th in Mexico City. Catering to trade professionals, the Expo welcomed around 50 buyers, distributors, and top executives in the HoReCa channel and the catering and foodservice industry, mainly from hotel chains, gourmet food shops and large restaurants. Members of the media were also in attendance, including magazines such as Food & Travel and El Conocedor, and newspapers such as Reforma and El Universal.
As for exhibitors, 14 importers of products from 16 Andalusian companies operating in Mexico attended. A total of 47 items were on display, among them olives, olive oil, wine, sherry vinegar, ham and other Ibérico products. These are some of the most well known Spanish products in Mexico, which is an important market for Spain. In fact, Andalusia was Spain’s second-leading exporter region to Mexico in 2015 and 2016. Participating brands included Sánchez Romero, Castillo de Tabernas, Aceitunas Sevillanas, Inés Rosales, Bodegas Barbadillo, Bodegas Osborne, Covap, Consorcio de Jabugo, and Esencia Andalusí Gourmet. Eight provinces were represented, among them Huelva, Jaén and Seville.
