CAVA MEETING JAPAN 2024

The volume of sparkling wine imported from Spain is the second highest of all sparkling wines in Japan, accounting for 30% of Japan's total imports of Spanish wine. Especially Cava has shown remarkable progress in the Japanese market, with recognition and high evaluation.

To further promote the presence and image of Cava, CAVA MEETING program will be held in Tokyo as part of a campaign jointly organized by Foods and Wines from Spain, through the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Japan, and Alimentos de España.

The programme concerned will take place on Wednesday October 2nd and Thursday October 17th , with the following three sessions.

1. Cava Masterclass (October 2nd)

2. Cava Lounge (October 2nd)

3. Cava Bar (October 17th)

The first half of the masterclass will be an explanation of the “Cava de
Guarda Superior” category and “Elaborador Integral” by lecturer Yoko
Obara. The second half will be a tasting with sommelier Wataru Iwata,
who will provide tasting comments and pairing suggestions, drawing out
the appeal of Cava from both MW trainee Obara's perception of the market
and world-class sommelier Iwata's tasting comments.

Iwata was named the Best Sommelier of Japan in 2017 and he achieved 5th place in the A.S.I Best Sommelier in the world competition 2023.

Cava Lounge

This tasting space will focus on “Cava de Guarda Superior”. You can experience the high quality and depth of flavor of premium Cava.

No prior registration is required. Please bring your business card with you on the day.

Cava Bar

At the venue of #Spain Food Nation Summit. The summit will discuss strategies for Spanish products in the Japanese market, and a special Cava Bar will be set up for the participants. Two sommeliers with knowledge of Spanish wine will introduce and serve premium Cava.

Venue: Maple Room, The Okura Prestige Tower 7F (2-10-4 Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo)
