Spanish Ciders Win Multiple Medals and Diplomas at Cider World Expo

The Cider World Expo and Awards recently wrapped up its latest edition in Frankfurt, Germany. This event is considered the world’s leading trade fair for the cider industry and provides an important platform for industry professionals—retailers, producers, sommeliers, restaurateurs, journalists, etc.—can meet every year.

Spanish ciders performed especially well at this year’s event, taking home multiple distinctions. In the Still category, Sidra Natural Isastegi DO Premium and Euskal Sagardoa Premium 2022 both received gold medals; and Alai, Bereziartua Edicion Gourmet, Sidra El Gaitero Natural, and Capricho de Somarroza, among others, received silver medals.

In the Sparkling category, Gaitero Spanish Cider 100% Apple and Sidra El Gaitero Black Label took home gold medals; Rubí de Somarroza, Pomarina Brut, Aparduna Reserva, and Sidra Valle Ballina y Fernandez, among others, received silver medals; and Spring Cider Apple and Sidra El Gaitero Rosé took home diplomas of honor.

In the Mixed & Flavored category, Spain stood out with two golds: Biter Bio Somarroza and La Sidruca con Limón—the only ciders to win this particular distinction.

In the Dessert & Fortified section, Spain took home two silvers, for Bizi-Goxo Ice Cider 2017 and 1898 Ice Cider.
