The World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants 2026 is the seventh edition of an award that has cemented its place as the definitive list of the world’s best steak restaurants. Rankings take various factors into consideration, ranging from flavor, texture, cut quality. and cooking technique to the sourcing of ingredients and overall atmosphere.

A singular culinary experience

La Cúpula de El Capricho is located in the small municipality of Jiménez de Jamuz, around 70 kilometers southwest of the city of León. The creation of Spanish chef José Gordon, it leads diners on a five-hour, 20-course food experience, from the pastures, where more than 300 oxen graze, to the subterranean cellars, and the dome (la cúpula) where the tastings take place.

The entire dining experience is designed to evoke the traditions of the land, the passion for good food, and the culinary roots of the locals. The exclusive menu is centered on José Gordón’s world-famous chuleta (ribeye steak), sourced from heritage Iberian breeds such as Sayaguesa, Retinta, and Rubia Gallega (which produces premier Galician beef). They also utilize exceptional Spanish meat that carries quality certifications (PGI). This includes Tudanca (PGI Carne de Cantabria), Morucha (from PGI Carde Morucha), and Avileña (PGI Carne de Ávila). Further distinction comes courtesy of La Cúplua’s accompanying wine cellar, featuring more than 20,000 bottles of local and international wines.

Described by World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants as “One of the most remarkable dining experiences anywhere on Earth at the moment,” La Cúpula de El Capricho certainly deserves its place at the top of the rankings.
