A Journey to the Atlantic: Crisp Albariño for the End of Summer
Join us for an exploration of Albariño, Galicia’s signature grape variety. On Friday, September 25, we will open a selection of carefully chosen bottles from the Rías Baixas appellation and bring back the fresh, summery atmosphere of Spain’s Atlantic coast.
Albariño is synonymous with freshness. It is known for its vibrant acidity, aromas of peach and citrus, and a distinctive saline character influenced by the sea. During the tasting, we will compare wines from two contrasting subregions to demonstrate how microclimate shapes the personality of this remarkable grape:
Val do Salnés
A coastal area regarded as the historic birthplace of Albariño. Cool in climate and directly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, it produces wines with exceptional freshness and minerality.
From this subregion, we will taste wines from Adega Pombal, showcasing the classic mineral style of Albariño, as well as wines from Bodegas Fulcro, the boutique project of Manuel Moldes, renowned for barrel fermentation and the production of complex, deeply structured wines.
Condado do Tea
An inland subregion located along the Tea River valley. Higher temperatures in this area result in wines with fuller body and a more intense fruit profile.
From Condado do Tea, we will present wines from Notas Frutales.
