Spanish Wines in the Spotlight at Tasting in Amsterdam with Ferran Centelles

Spanish wines took center stage recently in Amsterdam as part of a tasting led by Ferran Centelles. The event, which took place on January 20th, was organized by ICEX and Foods & Wines from Spain in the Netherlands and was geared towards professional sommeliers.

The restaurant Zoldering hosted the event, and a total of 45 professional sommeliers were invited to learn about and taste a selection of 18 wines from all over Spain. The chosen wines were from the following bodegas: Enric Soler, Daniel Landi, Verónica Ortega, Pago de Carraovejas, Bodegas Vega Sicilia, Dominio do Bibei, Bodegas Frontonio, Gorka Izaguirre, Gallina de Piel, Artadi, and Bodegas Artuke, among others.

Ferran Centelles is a well-known professional in the wine industry and he has extensive experience as a wine journalist and wine educator. He’s the wine specialist with www.jancisrobinson.com and he was the sommelier at elBulli restaurant. As for accolades, he was named Ruinart’s Best Sommelier in Spain in 2006 and he received the Spanish National Gastronomy Award in 2011. He also published a book about wine pairings, ¿Que vino con este pato?, in 2016. Zoldering is run by Job Seuren, who also writes for wine publications Perswijn and Winelife and came in third at the Dutch sommelier championship in 2015.
